Description
Classic fine jewelry drama in vintage form - the Decoage Black Onyx Vintage Statement Ring in 14KT yellow gold is a boldly designed cocktail ring where lustrous natural black onyx is presented in a vintage-inspired yellow gold setting of considered proportions and evident craftsmanship. The deep black of the onyx against warm gold is one of fine jewelry's most timeless color combinations, and this vintage-style mounting gives it fresh relevance for today's collector.

Q&A
Why does black onyx have such a long history in fine jewelry? Black onyx's combination of deep, consistent color, excellent durability (7 on the Mohs scale), and ability to be polished to a high luster has made it one of the most consistently used gemstones in fine jewelry across cultures and centuries. From ancient Egyptian amulets to Victorian mourning jewelry to Art Deco geometric designs, black onyx appears wherever designers want maximum graphic impact from a gemstone.
