What is a flyback chronograph and how does it differ from a standard chronograph? A standard chronograph requires three separate pushbutton actions to reset and restart: stop, reset, start. A flyback chronograph accomplishes all three in a single pushbutton press - the chronograph instantly flies back to zero and restarts in one action. Originally developed for aviation and military timing where speed was critical, the flyback complication is both technically demanding to engineer and more elegant to use than any standard chronograph.
